Safe Driving Academy
Safe Driving Academy (SDA) is one of Northern Virginia's leading driving schools. They offer many services both behind the wheel and behind the desk. SDA approached me in early 2007 as a new start up school that had instructors that had many years of experience. SDA wanted to become a unique kind of driving school, one that its students could relate to, one that was built around them and their lives. SDA offered many easy options such as anywhere pickup, which meant that SDA would drive to its students, so they didn't have to drive to SDA. I wanted to expand this ease of use, and make the school truly easy to use in all aspects. We developed the first version of the site. It was very basic, but had an online enrollment form. On version two of the site, we decided to make the site fun and illustrated. This version had advanced enrollment forms that sent text messages to the instructors so that students could be picked up that very same day. We also added online payments with PayPal, along with a payment installment plan through PayPal subscriptions. As the school grew, and started offering other services, they quickly outgrew the old design. We decided to build on the illustration theme, but create a more crisp, clean, and professional feel. For this I hired Scott Jackson to be the illustrator. Together Scott and I developed a new look that wasn't completely different then the old site, yet dramatically improved the look and feel. We developed a company mascot, Mr. Safe, who has now become the face of the school. This version of the site added onsite payment, as well as more dynamic forms, easier to navigate menus, and an overall easier and more user friendly experience.
